La Francigena takes its name from the old road that still goes through the medieval suburb of Staggia (about 1000 a. C.). From the house it is possible to see the almost intact city wall, with the old towers crowning the ancient castle.
Brunelleschi performed the actual structure of the walls under commission of the Republic of Florence between the XIV and the XV century.
The house, at the edge of Chianti, is situated few kilometers from Siena (16), Monteriggioni and Colle V. Elsa (6), Volterra (35), S. Gimignano (18), Florence (32), ... all of them well attainable due to a very good road network.
